It was in the teens last night. Some places in Utah were well below zero. Tonight, it will be a single number here in the valley. But….no more snow for awhile.
I have been lost in thought and in tons of pain all day. Now I am physically sick from an email I just got. I first signed up for internet last January. I consider the price to be robbery as is. Now the price is going from $50.68/month to $77.64/month…..and that’s for JUST internet!!! No way can I pay that….nor do I want to. It’s now time to shop for a new smartphone, so I can sign up for StraightTalk again. I will get 5GB of data for $45 that way. No more watching videos. I am really, really going to miss using my chromebook and getting unlimited internet. At that price, it’s insane….even if I had the money. I have until January 12th to figure out what’s next. The benefit is that food stamps considers a cell phone as a legitimate expense, but not internet, so I will get a few bucks more for food 🙂
I need to get a life. I am on the internet most of my waking hours. It’s the only thing I have to do besides go shopping, visit docs and pet Olive. Anybody have a StraightTalk phone they like that’s not too expensive? I need to go look at them again. I want one that works on the Verizon network, in case I go back on the road. StraightTalk buys their service from the major networks. My LG was on Sprint, the iPhone on Verizon and the cheap Galaxy 3 I looked at was on Verizon. Deals change daily, so I need to go do my homework. Geeze! I knew the price of internet would go up after a year….but I didn’t know it would be that much! what a rip-off.
I spent hours looking at phones. I might buy one on AT&T. I found one with 4G LTE, lollipop 5, front and back cameras, gps, etc. $60! Seems too good too be true. The reviews look pretty good. And the whole cost is less than a protection plan for the iPhone 🙂 Decent! Anybody have a (Straight Talk) LG Sunset L33L LTE?
That salt lamp I just took a pic of? The light bulb blew. I put in a new one. Not only did that one blow, too….but there was the smell of burning plastic and wires. I went on Amazon to write a negative review and several people lately have had the same problem. Geeze! One old cord and 4 new cords down the drain in just a few months. I have a whole big box full of salt chunks. The solid lamps are doing better….so far. Originally, the salt lamps were one of the only things I owned that I did not want to leave behind. Maybe the universe is pushing me out the door 🙂
Ocean Pond sunset Christmas Eve
I am glad Christmas is over. Holidays like that are just too depressing now that I live alone. I used to like traveling and camping for Christmas….to avoid the whole thing. I will never forget Christmas 2010. I camped at Ocean Pond with Zeke and Aleka. The woman next door saw I was without human companionship and brought me over a plate of food. It was the best ham I ever ate. I was very grateful she cared 🙂
Ocean Pond campsite
It was absolutely gorgeous Christmas Eve! Temps in the 70’s. Then during the night, the wind blew hard. When I woke up in the morning….it was snowing!!! In Florida! I quick drove south and camped in the Everglades 🙂
This is Paurotis Pond in Everglades National Park. Zeke and Aleka walked around the parking lot on their leashes. A whole bunch of people could not believe they were seeing a cat on a leash. Both pets enjoyed the attention.
A trail into the mangroves at Everglades NP.
Here’s our campsite at Flamingo in the NP. I kept seeing a guy go by in an official vehicle. He sure looked familiar. After seeing him a few times, I followed that CG road until I found him. Yup….it was Shirley and Bill from Massachusetts. I kept bumping into them while out and about for years 🙂 They told me about a New Year’s party on the Loop Road in Big Cypress. I went and camped a couple of weeks and had a really, really good time! I was usually the last person around the campfire at night. We had many very yummy community meals, too. I stayed there past my birthday. We had a party and people sang to me 🙂
This is our campground at Burns Lake, in Big Cypress National Preserve. You can see Aleka’s eyes glowing on the bed. Zeke was afraid I was walking away without him. Yes! Walking! I used to do that. Sigh….
These vultures were perched right near the van.
Everywhere in the Everglades and Big Cypress there are alligators….hundreds and hundreds of alligators.
Then I drove back up north in Florida. I stopped at Sanibel and Captiva Islands and walked on the beach. This part of the ocean has some very beautiful shells.
Ahhhhhhhhhhh…..the ocean rejuvenated me.
Then I did a very dumb thing. I drove to Lakeland and I married Rhett. I loved him a lot. But dumb, dumb, dumb. For me…..live and never learn. I just noticed that Rhett and I have matching eyes in that pic. Little did I know….but I would soon be in the hospital on the verge of myasthenic crisis. Stupid MG!
Oh, my gosh. There used to be a whole other Wendy. One who traveled and camped and visited beautiful places! I miss that Wendy….a lot.
