Last night I watched an ambulance and fire truck leave. It wasn’t a whole lot longer when more emergency vehicles came here. Now that it’s dark early, with my windows and blinds closed, I don’t hear or see much. Flashing lights come through the blinds, though.
I stuck my head out into the hallway and was even more confused. There were firemen and/or ambulance guys in front of the community room. The door was closed to that room. Emergency responders had a pile of equipment that they came and went from. I have no idea what happened.
This morning I turned on the heat….but it only blew cold air for more than an hour….then switched to heat. Now it’s blowing cold air again. I guess I need to go track down the manager. We don’t have a maintenance man. One after another, they quit or get fired. It’s been a couple of months since my kitchen faucet was supposed to be replaced and even longer since someone was supposed to fix the toilet. I have to keep taking off the tank lid and putting the flap back in the right place. What a dump 😦
What irks me is that today I need to pay rent. I don’t want to live here! Paying rent means I am stuck here another month. Sigh….
On a more pleasant note, I was looking at pictures I have taken. I was picking which ones to keep and which to delete. I was blown away by how pretty some of the flower and fall foliage pics were! Now that we have had multiple killing frosts, the world outside is mostly shades of grays and browns. I had already forgotten about bursts of color.
I just got dressed and went out to talk to the manager. He is MIA. I wanted to talk to him about paying rent and getting things fixed. It was eerily quiet out in the grand foyer. I only saw a health aide scurrying out with a bag of garbage. I noticed a red car in a reserved handicap spot. I went out to look. It belongs to the guy who drew a gun here….the stomper’s boyfriend. It has a flat tire. He was ordered out of this building months ago. He is still here! 😮
Then, I turned my head to see what the humming was. It’s a giant generator in a trailer….with a hose like electric line going into a third floor apartment. It’s the cootie cookers. I wondered what was going on when I saw all the Venturi company trucks today. They bring giant heaters that fry bed bugs. Eeeeeeeeewwwwwwww!!!!!! Despite our regular bed bug inspections, these guys are always here, killing a new apartment full. I suspected I knew whose apartment that was, now I know. It belongs to the van woman with several homeless boyfriends.
I found out a whole lot more from a couple of my favorite old guys when I went out again to talk to the manager. The manager says that if I pay rent, then do not end up staying a whole month, they will pay me back for days not lived here. He also says because I have lived here “so long”, that my security deposit is guaranteed to be returned. Whew! That’s a relief to know.
The obnoxiously strange “evangelical Christian” who goes around telling people things like….we don’t believe in the same God or Jesus as her (thank God!) has finally been kicked out. She lives with her boyfriend and they are pigs. I took pics of the Venturi trailers at her place. Their apartment was crammed full of all kinds of critters and filth and the creepy crawlies were found going up the closed stairwell 😮 Their last dog died and they immediately got another one. I wrote about the puppy’s eye oozing blood. Now it has grown into a full sized cocker spaniel that she has no control over. It goes on the floor and regularly gets loose in the building. It just goes on and on….
I stumbled into a meeting between a guy I like, his roommate, a social worker and the manager. The 2 guys were being kicked out for a variety of reasons. Truthfully….I would kick them out, too. Drugs, alcohol, fights, creepy visitors, not paying rent and one of them keeps pawning his brand new federally funded power chair. I just do not understand what makes people make some of the choices they do.
I am poorer than most everybody in this building. I have never been late paying my rent. It should be the first place money goes each month! These 2 guy roommates only owed half each of what I pay, and they still screwed up. Choices, people! Being homeless sucks.
And all the emergency vehicles? One set was for some guy who apparently lives here, but he was stumbling around incoherently pointing at a piece of paper. Then he slumped and it sounds like he might have lost consciousness. The emergency people understood what was on the paper….some sort of malady.
Ohhhhh….there’s more, but it would take a book to write down all I learned today. This was a representative sample. I really, really, REALLY want to move!
My lungs have been wheezing like crazy today 😦 I can just barely be understood….but have to repeat a lot….and I don’t have enough energy or air to talk. I just hung up on a healthcare person who could understand about 1 out of every 10 words I croaked out. It took too much effort. I asked if we could email, but she didn’t understand that, either.
Ugh! The darn pest people backed their truck up to my window and are keeping the truck running for warmth. I was already wheezing, now it’s an asthma attack. It’s illegal to idle a vehicle in SLC on a good day! Rather funny they have a how’s my driving sticker on the back, with the truck #. I wrote to their boss and asked them to stop idling!!!!!
The all over weakness is also affecting my back. It’s happening again. While standing still, I cannot expand my ribs. I don’t know which comes first…the weakness or paralyzed lungs….but it feels horrible when it’s happening! These are classic MG problems that I have been having all day….and I have absolutely nowhere to turn for help 😮
