Trying to go to a care facility or to get a home health agency to follow through has been a GIANT nightmare 😦
I already wrote about the last company that DID promptly show up…then backed out. What a dishonorable bunch! The poor, young social worker fresh out of college was used as a disposable pawn 😦
She was great 🙂 She came here to try to straighten things out for her bosses. They did not want to be responsible for my care in any way, shape or form. Once the nurses saw how huge my wound was, they were freaked. They were also losing money on me. They absolutely did not want the liability of all my problems for almost no compensation.
The social worker was sent to try to convince me to go to a care facility or find another option. I said I would prefer to go to the hospital 3x a week as an outpatient….or go to the new clinic a block from my apartment. I can just zip over there in my power chair 🙂
Heather grabbed one of the advertising cards from Sacred Circle and the social worker called them for me. They said they would be delighted to meet with me at 8 AM Thursday morning.
It’s not easy going up their multiple ramps or opening their non handicapped accessible doors, but people helped me 🙂
The folks who work there are all extremely nice and caring. I filled out paperwork and was soon seen by their only doctor. The nurse and doc were fantastic!
Neither had ever seen a wound vac like mine, but were willing to learn. A company Rep for the wound vac will come to that office at 8 AM Friday to teach them how to care for my wound.
This healthcare place has only been there a couple of months. It’s owned by an Indian tribe. Unlike everyone else, they actually get paid more to take care of Medicaid patients because of their tribal status.
This should be a win-win situation. I am a cash cow with endless health problems and they need customers.
When I took off my skirt, the doc noted my undies. Later he said he could tell I was LDS 🙂 He is, too. That never happened in the east. Here all the healthcare workers can tell if you are a temple-going Mormon. It tickles my funny bone 🙂 Often people start up conversations after seeing my undies :-p
Thursday morning I had a fever of 99.6° I wonder what’s up with that? The visiting nurses did my wound care different than anybody else had. I think they did something wrong. It doesn’t suck fluid out of my belly in a consistent way. I have to help it by jiggling and pressing down on my belly to get the suction going. I am looking forward to the company Rep doing it better!
It’s 2:30 AM. I just took a shower to cool down and smell better. Now I won’t have to rush before my doctor appointment.
Dang, I am weak! It’s hard to drag my feet up and over the bath tub. Good thing I found the bath chair! I would be sunk without it.
I willl let you know how the wound care goes….
